ever since I had a massive panic attack I’m afraid to take a shower. help please :(?
I had to go to the emergency room for a massive anxiety/panic attack. After that even my eyesight got horribe and i detatchment with my surroundings and family. I’m getting better now(therapy, medication) but for some reason showering or baths seem to scare me. I dont know if this is because of my depression but i get really anxious when i think about taking a shower/bath or i dont even think about taking one at all! could someone please help with my situation? V_V
Have you tried getting someone to help you?
Bring someone you trust into the bathroom, with a book or something to do. They can sit on the toilet and wait for you while you are in the shower, and you’ll be behind the shower curtain so they won’t see you unclothed.
Hang in there <3

Talk to your therapist about your fear of showers and baths.

What I am wondering is why you associate a panic attack with showering or taking a bath. Did something happen while you were doing either?
You need to reprogram your mind. I have suffered from panic disorder for many years. Having a soothing hot bath relaxes me. Think of a nice relaxing bubble bath, light candles, make it nice. Showers feel good too. They massage your back and sore muscles and the hot water feels good hitting your body. You can’t NOT shower or bathe, then you will have a whole new set of problems. Talk to your doctor about this. You may need medication.

the only way to overcome it is to continue to face your fears in the face. Do it over and over again until your anxiety and panic is gone and then you will know you can conquer anything you put your mind to

I think you should see your doctor, who will help you but also have you tried getting in the bath in small stages like set your self a goal that you will just climb in the bath and then get straight out and then when you feel comfortable with that or at least able to do it set yourself you’re next goal of 5 seconds it doesent matter if you cant do it straight away just keep at it you have to have something to aim for then if you can try increasing to 10 seconds and so on.
