Do you think this could be asthma?

Posted by admin - Under: Home Remedies for Panic Attacks

I have only had an asthma attack once or twice and it was a few years back. I think both times it was exercise induced though. However, I am increasingly noticing problems with my breathing. I don’t know if it is asthma, hay fever, allergies, or something more serious. These are my symptoms though: I have a persistent tightness in my chest and it is hard for me to take full breaths and deep breaths. I believe this is constantly occurring, however, I notice it more at night. It’s hard for me to breathe through my nose even though it isn’t stuffy. I have to breathe through my mouth a lot of the times. My throat tightens up when it’s humid, and when I’m around steam, smoke, and perfume. I have nasal dripping, a cough that has been on and of for months. I don’t even remember when it started. I always have mucus in the back of my throat as well, and it seems like I can never get rid of it. Also, a few times my breathing has been so bad that I feel dizzy. I feel myself starting to panic, but I remind myself it will only make it worse, so I try to take slow breaths and after a few minutes I feel better, although I feel like I’m not breathing 100% great. Also, are there any home remedies that can help this? I have no health insurance.

You sound very similar to me, and I have asthma. The only thing I don’t think you mentioned that I suffer from is wheezing and this "tickly" feeling in my throat. Like you, strong smells and smoke make me feel like my throat is closing up. Also, it is really hard for me to breathe when it is humid. Also, cold air can physically make my lungs hurt to breathe in. I have mucus, too, on occasion. When I get that, however, it generally means I have bronchitis. You will need antibiotics if you have bronchitis.

I kept getting bronchitis (like every 2 months for a year or 2 straight) and that is how my asthma was discovered. I started taking Flovent daily and Proventil as a rescue inhaler (before exercise and as necessary) a few months ago and didn’t get bronchitis for 6 months! I currently have bronchitis again, so my doc has started me on Singulair daily (along with my previously mentioned meds). I also use a Neti Pot (although I get pretty lazy about it…the more often I use it, the better I feel). It makes a big difference. You should Google "neti pot" and see if it is something that might be for you. Hot tea with lemon and honey (local is best, helps with allergies, too) helps your throat and with the sinus issues.

You should go to the doctor and tell him/her what exactly is going on. It sounds to me like you might have asthma, (especially given your previous history with asthma) but only your doctor can make that diagnosis. Hope this answers your question. Good luck.

i would go to your doctor and have them check it out. i’m practically allergic to every plant (i live in FL too. lovely.) and most animals (and i have a dog that sheds a lot). i have asthma really bad here. and that was pretty much how it all started. i had no allergies except dust and the next day i was rushed to the hospital because i couldn’t breathe. :\ so go get it checked out, kiddo because it’s always better to be safe than sorry :] ♥

This seams more like your throat that your lungs, it could be SLEEP APNEA, symptoms are: you are overweight, you have a large collar size, you feel tiered a lot, sometimes you feel sick. If any of these match, then you need to see a specialist and have a check asp.

You should immediately see the doctor. By the way, I recently was diagnosed with asthma, and I have committed to myself that there shall be no attack again. (my condition was not very bad anyhow only wheezing). Alkaline your body. Try internet how you can do it. Avoid allergies and things that can cause allergies. Try not to have acidity. Good Luck.
