I was hit and almost killed by a drunk driver and if it wasn't for my Saturn I would be dead. The cross bar saved my life as I was hit at 40mph on the drivers side door by and SUV. I now own a new Saturn Ion, with same saftey features and cross bar. It's a super safe car and God forbid, can save your life. The Ion's also come equipt with OnStar incase you need any help. Good luck
References :
personal experience

Ive read the other answers & understand what ppl mean but in some instances there is no other choice, its down to you to think if u r capable, I have the same problem but manage to drive with some benzo' medication.......a car that makes u feel more secure & safer but not stand out would be something like a VW Golf. Im not sure if a newish one would be within your budget so you may have to look for a Polo, I think you would find the solid "clunk" when you shut the doors reassuring.

Good luck
References :
Panic attacks are a scary thing, especially in a moving vehicle. I've not had one while driving, but I have had one as a passenger.
You have other options.
If you are not on medication or your meds aren't working, talk to your doctor. If you know exactly what triggers the panic attacks, it's easier to find a remedy. (For instance, my mom used to pinch her thigh as hard as she could if she was driving.) Try to be as safe as possible - a panic attack while driving could cause a major accident.
Check out the school bus system, or see if anyone in the neighborhood carpools, if you don't have a relative or friend available to drive your daughter.
If none of these things are an option, you may be able to find a cheap car at carmax, or a used car lot. (I found my Accent for 10,000, barely used.) I don't know if you are claustrophobic, but a cheaper car usually equals a smaller car.
Good luck to you!
References :
Epileptic with anxiety.

My sister suffered from panic attack too. She did not use any product or something. Therapy and relaxation techniques are her only option which led to her recovery.

She also wrote an eBook entitled Panic Attack Manual. You might want to give it a try.
References :
http://panicattackmanual.com

ask you family doctor for some xanax or valium or any med in the benzodiazipine class of medications.

If for some reason you don't want to do that, use anything that will relax you such as over the counter antihistamines, or the latest sleep med that has 3 ingredients in it: 5HTP and melatonin and one other. I think it's call Altovil or something beginning with A.

Your 4 main brain chemicals are out of balance and that is easy for your doc to correct with the benzodiazapine class of drugs and others.
References :
R.N. Psychiatric Nursing Instructor

Yea, take a cab and then get a doc note for your condition then submit the receipts of cab fare for medical write offs!

better yet, take a chill pill, and tell your self to SHUT UP and DO IT!
Truly, it is as easy as choosing not the feel that way, as you are subconsciously choosing to be that way!
References :
I carry a very small stone/ rock with me. I found one with lots of different textures. When a panic attack is coming I have it close and can hold it in my hand. I usually use my thumb to feel the different textures and put all my concentration on that until it passes.

Stones are easy to find and are free so you can change them often. Which also helps as you can compare them to the others you have.
References :
My first suggestion before getting a vehicle would be to see a doctor ASAP if you haven't already. I don't think it's safe for you to be driving if you have known panic attacks while driving. This is not safe for you, other drivers and, most importantly, your daughter! Can you make other arrangements for her to get to school?
References :
anyone can learn EFT , the free version, and apply it at anytime anywhere to help themselves with things like this and others...............it is below
just learn it, then apply it

It is the best thing i know of besides getting tho the root of the problem, and we know that hormones, especially, adrenal hormones cause panic attacks when out of balance......so can thyroid imbalances..........so get all that checked by experts

You could also see an acupuncturist/herbalist in your area and ask them for a formula to help you.
References :
www.emofree.com click on 'learn eft'
