Are there any panic attack products that can help me?

I’ve been suffering from them for about 2-3 years now and have found therapy, and books, cd’s etc.. helpful but when i do occasionaly get one, i have nothing to occupy me or help me at the time of the attack apart from remembering what i learnt which helps, but i know if i can use something hand held so to speak it would help alot more.

Is there anything like that out there for example i know a stress ball is something similiar but not really designed for panic attacks but stress? i cant seem to find anything.

I carry a very small stone/ rock with me. I found one with lots of different textures. When a panic attack is coming I have it close and can hold it in my hand. I usually use my thumb to feel the different textures and put all my concentration on that until it passes.

Stones are easy to find and are free so you can change them often. Which also helps as you can compare them to the others you have.

How can I stop having panic attacks? And feeling nauseous? This is ruining my life?!?

I am deathly afraid to throw up, and going to therapy, an taking medications when I need to, but I still get panic attacks pretty frequently. Does anyone have any advice? Or has anyone gone through this? I really need help, or at least reassurance :/ Thanks
Xanax and Clonopin are actually the two meds I’ve been given…and built up a tolerance to. They don’t work anymore. At all.

My gosh girl, I am going through this. I think you just starred my question actually, haha. I don’t know what to tell you. I do know that not thinking so much and trying new things even though you know it bothers you helps a lot.

Take me for example. I usually can’t even go in a store to buy a pack of smokes. I’m afraid of being judged. I hate my appearance and I’m generally just a recluse. The Xanex i’m on is helping me SO much. I’m doing a lot of things that I never would have thought to do before. I’m thinking about getting my license (drivers license) and my GED. I just don’t know if I can do it without the meds tho, and that’s what scares me. As soon as I come off of these, I’m going to be right back at square one. :(

I can completely relate, dear. When my husband said he was leaving me… it got 10x worse for me.

Edit: I also wanted to add… pick one thing to try new a week. Just stick with that. Keep doing it until you get more comfortable with it. I did that with eating in public. Now i’m pretty OK with going out and eating in a few select restaurants. Sure, it’s not great, but it’s better than sitting in the car and freaking out.

Have you Ever Had A Panic Attack Before and if you have what did you do ?

I have been Having Panick attacks for many years now , I had them so bad AT One point in my life I couldn’t even leave my house or Drive A car. It seemed like everytime I got in my Car I would have one. And i use to have to take meds to calm me down. But Like I said it was 6 years ago since this started , and now I am able to have no Medication , and just Breath and relax. TRUSTME IT TOOK MANY YEARS TO LEARN HOW TO DO IT. But befor I learned to do it on my own I would run to the ER , because I really thought I was having A geart attack , or going to die at any min. I cant beleave I was like that , But trust me it is no fun. I Now have them maybe 2 time A month sometimes more if im really stressed out , but like I said I breath and calm myself Down lots of therapy LOL…
So have any of you had one before , and did you ever get rid of them so that they Never come back anymore. And if you did Please share with Me what You did.

I’ve had quite a few panic attacks over the last couple of years. They tend to happen at times when I’m under even more stress than usual.

At this moment I’m not sure if they will ever cease completely. However, when I’m having an attack I use methods to "ground" myself – to bring myself back to reality. I often feel like I have a disconnect with reality when I’m in the middle of an attack.

I bring myself back to reality by using my senses to engage with concrete things around me. For example I might touch something and focus on observing its texture. Or, I might focus on a sound or a scent.

I also try breathing methods, although for me personally, I find that I’m not too good at controlling my breathing in the middle of an attack.

Is it true that doctors can "prescribe" a person with anxiety/panic attacks a pet as therapy?

I have always suffered from horrible anxiety attacks, and nothing seems to help. I have been given different types of medicines for it but they seem to only temporarily fix the problem. Recently, one of my neighbors informed me that he has the same problem and his doctor suggested having a pet as therapy for it. I have heard of this before. Is this true? Can a pet really be good for these types of things? And if so, do doctors really "prescribe" pets?

Well, all I know is that my 2 dogs, 1 bird and a guinea pig all make my life a happier one. Animals bring love and companionship in a way people just can’t. Animals don’t judge you, don’t yell, don’t manipulate or put demands on you. All they want is to love and be loved. I have many medical issues as well as severe anxiety, and it really does help having animals around. My dogs seem to know when I am feeling extra bad/depressed and when that happens they don’t leave my side. :)
